GIG ROWING on the NAVESINK RIVER!

Rowing gigs are traditional 4- or 6-oared workboats that originated in the late 17th Century, and have been used as lifeboats, ferries, naval ‘taxis’, and pilot boats, as well as general purpose workboats.

Today they are largely recreational craft and popular wherever there is water and a desire to build and row them.

NMHA already builds wooden canoes each year and exposing the public to these gigs for a day will help gauge whether NMHA will want to start gig-building at its Grover House headquarters.

COME JOIN US at Marine Park, Red Bank, any time between 10:00am and 3:30pm and crew a gig!
