"Building the Six Hour Canoe:
Introduction for All Participants for June, 2008, Festival"
and
"The First 100 Years of Red Bank on the Navesink -- a Postcard and Photographic History"

All participants and those preparing for future boatbuilding events with NMHA are urged to attend this preparatory meeting for the June 7-8 Wooden Boat Fest at Fair Haven. All volunteer leaders will be present and introductory demonstrations, illustrations, and plans will be exhibited and instructions for team members.

In addition, all members and public are invited to view illustrations of history of boatbuilding and recreational watersports during the first 100 years of Red Bank on the Navesink -- this is to highlight history of waterfront of Red Bank in its centennial year celebration in 2008.

Up to ten teams including family and teams are invited to participate in our 10th annual Wooden Boat Festival, building the Six Hour Canoe at our Wooden Boat Festival, June 7-8.

There are two options for families or community groups to participate this year.

First, a team can enroll to build their own boat to complete and take home that weekend. The cost for the entire weekend, including beautiful canoe paddles to be built by all youth members as well as all meals and refreshments for both days is $500.00.

Second, we are building boats with volunteers under a foundation grant, therefore families or community teams can enroll to build boats as a team for our recreation programs, but the cost is only $75.00 for the entire weekend including all refreshments, certificates, etc.

You will start at 8 a.m. Saturday Morning, June 7, and by 2:30 pm Sunday you will be in the water paddling your new canoe. Visit our Photo Gallery to see last years event.

Signups are right now through May 27, 2008. Call 732-671-5572 (Tom Gibson), or click here for a mail in sign up form (pdf) .
