Members are Invited to a

NMHA Member's Reception and Celebration!

at Grover House, Friday May 1^st, 2026,

from 6:00pm to 8:30pm

Grover House, an historic 1730s farmhouse, is on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places, and on the Weekend in Old Monmouth tour, and the Board of Trustees welcomes you to a Reception and Celebration at Grover House on Friday, May 1st when light refreshments will be available.

Please RSVP by clicking on 'Register' at the left of your screen and remember to click "Confirm" at the end to complete your registration.

Come any time from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. This is a free event for Members and we will use the number of registrations to guide our catering requirements. Thank you. There is ADA access to the house from the parking lot and an ADA bathroom.

Four rooms have been renovated by NMHA volunteers in since 2018: the main meeting room, the kitchen and bathroom, the main living room, and the main hallway.

This is a work in progress and there are two remaining areas to be renovated.

Navesink Maritime Heritage Association welcomes you to its Headquarters, the Grover House, during your Weekend in Old Monmouth Tour. Visit this historic 1730s farmhouse to learn about the home’s history and present use, and how historic preservation goes hand in hand with community projects.

There will be tours of the house, coffee, and you can purchase NMHA merchandise! The building is ADA accessible, including the bathroom, and there is on-site parking.

The Monmouth County Historical Commission has scheduled A Weekend in Old Monmouth, a self-guided tour of more than 50 historic sites and museums in Monmouth County, for the first weekend in May. We are pleased to announce that Grover House will be open for A Weekend in Old Monmouth on Saturday, May 2^nd from 10:00am - 5:00pm and Sunday, May 3^rd from 12 noon to 5 pm.

Grover House is on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places, and successive generations of the Grover family played important roles in the founding of Monmouth County as farmers and traders, including one who became the first clerk of Middletown Township, and another a New Jersey Legislator.

Interested in Volunteering at Grover House?

We are looking for a few Members to volunteer as Docents during these days and times. You can sign up for an hour or longer by contacting Chuck Abel at cabel4@verizon.net, indicating your preferred days and times. You will receive a brief orientation and an information clipboard. NMHA Trustees will be available to assist.

Trip Details

Lunch:

Bring your own lunch to enjoy during a group picnic on the scenic grounds. We’ll gather in designated picnic areas, and our driver will make coolers available with any meals packed on the bus. You may also explore nearby dining options on or around the Snug Harbor campus. We will provide suggestions.

Schedule:

Depart Grover House (930 West Front Street, Red Bank): 10:00 AM
Arrive at Snug Harbor: approximately 11:15 AM
Depart Snug Harbor: 4:00 PM
Return to Grover House: before 5:30 PM

RIVER RANGERS℠ 2026 - Summer Canoeing Fun on the Navesink

River Rangers 22^ndyear!

This award winning on-the-water canoeing program is for youth age 10-14 and runs from Monday through Friday, 8.30 AM to 1:30 PM, under the direction of experienced leaders/counselors, Courtney and Pierre.

Age range is 10 (must be emotionally mature) to 14 (leadership qualities expected). Participant MUST be able to swim. Canoes, paddles, life vests, and expert supervision supplied. Please click on "Register" at the left of your screen to register and pay. More information HERE

Maximum capacity is 20 paddlers each week on a first-come basis with payment confirming the registration.

Price is $275 per paddler and includes five mornings with canoe, life vest, paddle, and a River Rangers T-Shirt.

River Rangers are led by experienced counsellors and visiting bird and other experts enliven and educate.

Paddlers should bring lunch, water, snacks, sunscreen, etc. Exact start and end locations and joining instructions will be provided one week before the event date.

This award winning on-the-water program for youth age 10-14 continues this summer, Monday through Friday, 8.30 AM to 1:30 PM, under the direction of experienced leaders/ counselors, Courtney and Pierre.
