To all, the tuesday night boat replacement meeting came up with a general direction to go forward with. This is not a final say as not everyone who has been discussing a new boat were present.

26' long, 6' beam, flat bottom with an upswept squared off bow. (yes it will Look like the Adam Hyler). The constuction will be plywood over oak framing. The seams inside and out will be fiberglass strips, then the outside gets a full fiberglass coat, the inside will be painted. This will cut down on the labor intensive spring fit out.

Instead of a centerboard we will have port and starboard lee boards on the outside of the boat. This will open up the cockpit for easier movement for the crew. There will be bench seating along the rails with 2 thwarts across for rowing. The side rails will be 4" wide with intergrated thole pin blocks. The bow deck will be sloped enough to allow water runoff. We will also have a kickup rudder.

The sail plan will be a gaffe rigged ketch instead of our current sprit rig (no more handing up the long sticks to the snotter line). The main mast will be a hollow "birdbeak" design.

Now we need:
  1. the concept hull put on paper
  2. the project costed out
  3. a grant writer

Please note the NMHA is in the process of securing a location for themselves and have volunteered their new site and expertise for this project. We are hoping the Sea Scout membership may be enthusiastic about helping to actually build a brand new vessel.
